LATIN AMERICAN PEDIATRIC NEPHROLOGY ASSOCIATION (ALANEPE) The Latin American Pediatric Nephrology Association (ALANEPE) was founded on November 27th, 1981, in a meeting held at the Argentinean Pediatric Society Headquarters in Buenos Aires. In this meeting its constitution and statutes were approved. This meeting was held under the presence of doctors Carlos M. Gianantonio, Raquel Bitchachi, José Ramírez, María Gracia Caletti, Fernando Mendilaharzu, Luis Voyer, Ramón Exeni, Raúl Merech, Arnaldo Rutti, Francisco Spizirri, Jorge Ferraris, Mario Renteria, Susana Micelli, Alberto Lubetkin, Carlos Cambiano, Amalia Turconi, Margarita Vitacco, María Beraldi, María Antonuccio, Irene Grimoldi, Alicia Amore, María del Carmen Laso, Graciela Pérez y Gutiérrez, Guillermo Gallo, Ernesto Sojo, Norma Delgado, Rurico Ibarra, Raquel Wainstein, Horacio Repetto, Roberto Remedi, José D’Elia, Luis Vásquez, Carlos Tuya, Stela Diéguez, Eduardo Perlstein, Estrella de De Giovanni y Elena Corti, from Argentina; Felipe Mota y Gustavo Gordillo from Mexico; José Grünberg, Guillermo Gazzara, Susana Bonelli, Aquilina Alvarez y Elba Nese de Crestanello, from Uruguay; René Feiman, from Brazil and Nahem Seguías, from Venezuela. Afterwards adhesion letters were received from doctors Jorge Corretger from Puerto Rico; Federico Puga from Chile; Julio Toporovsky, Dino Martino Filho, Valderes Fonseca Raposo de Mello, Vanda Benini, Decio Olguin, Leonardo Valle Pereira and Adauto Barros-Amin, from Brazil; Jorge de la Cruz, from Colombia, Rodolfo Martíni and Ernesto Díaz Moyano, from Argentina; Oscar Miranda, from Peru; Emilio Mena Castro, from the Dominican Republic and Oscar Cordón, from Guatemala. The assistants and those who sent the adhesion letters were considered the founders. The first Directive Board was unanimously approved and was integrated by Dr. Gustavo Gordillo P., from Mexico, as President, Dr. Carlos Gianantonio from Argentina, as Vice-President and Dr. Felipe Mota from Mexico as Secretary-Treasurer. During the First Latin American Pediatric Nephrology Congress held in Viña del Mar (Chile) in October 1984, Dr. Carlos Gianantonio (Argentina) assumed the Presidency charge for the 1985- 1987 period and the following members were elected for the Directive Council: Vice-president Dr. Jorge de la Cruz (Colombia), Secretary-Treasurer Dr. Ernesto Sojo (Argentina) and Vowels Doctors Julio Toporovsky (Brazil),Carlos Saieh Adonie (Chile), Oscar Cordón (Guatemala), Gustavo Gordillo (Mexico), Oscar Miranda V. (Peru), José Grünberg (Uruguay) y Nahem Seguías (Venezuela). At the General Assembly held during the II Latin American Pediatric Nephrology Congress that took place in Puerto La Cruz (Venezuela) in November 1987, Dr. Jorge de la Cruz (Colombia) assumed the Presidency of the Association and the following members were elected for the Directive Council, for the 1988-1991 period: Vice-president Dr. Nahem Seguías S. (Venezuela), Secretary-Treasurer Dr. Leovigildo Mercado (Colombia) and as Vowels Doctors Fernando Mendilaharzu (Argentina), Eduardo de Almeida Regó Filho (Brazil), Felipe González (Chile), Oscar Miranda (Peru) y Guillermo Gazzara (Uruguay). The assembly created and approved the new charge of Secretary General and was elected Dr. José Grünberg (Uruguay). The III Latin American Pediatric Nephrology Congress was held from the 7th to the 11th of June, 1992 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. (Paying homage to Dr. Gustavo Gordillo, pioneer in World Pediatric Nephrology and Co- Founder of ALANEPE). In ALANEPE’s General Assembly, presided by Dr. Jorge de la Cruz and held in June 10th, 1992 new statutes were approved and new authorities were elected according to the approved modification. The Directive Council was constituted as follows: Secretary General Dr. José Grünberg (Uruguay); Assistant Secretaries Dr. Adauto Barros Amin (Brazil), Dr. Ramiro García Alvarez (Mexico), Dr. Fernando Mendilaharzu (Argentina), Dr. Oscar Miranda (Peru), Dr. Nelson Orta Sibú (Venezuela), Dr. Santiago Valdés (Cuba); Past President Dr. Jorge de la Cruz (Colombia); Consultant Council: Dr. Carlos Gianantonio (Argentina), Dr. Gustavo Gordillo (Mexico). Subsequently Dr. María Cristina Verocay (Uruguay) is designated Secretary-Treasurer. Four vowels were designated: Dr. Norma Delgado (Argentina), Dr. Edda Lagomarsino (Chile), Dr. Juan Fernández de Castro (Mexico), Dr. Rafael Scovino (Venezuela). The IV ALANEPE Congress was held in Havana, Cuba, from the 18th to the 22nd of November, 1997, under the Presidency of Dr. Santiago Valdés, with Dr. Nelson Orta (Venezuela) as Ad Hoc International Coordinator, and paying homage to Dr. Renée Habib. (France), Pioneer in World Nephrology, Renal Pathologist with and unmatched development within the specialization, big supporter of ALANEPE from the scientific, academic and organizative points of view. Brazil was chosen to hold the V Congress. The V ALANEPE Congress was held in Valencia, Venezuela from the 7th to the 11th of November, 1999. (Approximately a year before Brazil declined to hold it). The President of the congress was Dr. Nelson Orta (Venezuela) and the event was held paying homage to Prof. Dr. Juan Rodríguez Soriano from Spain, one of the pioneers of Pediatric Nephrology in the World and closely bound to Latin American Pediatric Nephrology, in addition, a promoter of the foundation of ALANEPE. During this congress new authorities were elected as follows: Dr. Ramón Exeni (Argentina) as Secretary General, Dr. Irene Grimoldi (Argentina) as Secretary-Treasurer, as Assistant Secretaries Dr. Digna Espinosa (Cuba) Dr. Rodolfo Gordillo (Mexico) Dr. Michelle López (Venezuela) Dr. Consuelo Restrepo (Colombia) Dr. Carlos Saieh (Chile) Dr. Cristina Verocay (Uruguay), as IPNA Councillors Dr. Heloisa C. Perrone (Brazil) Dr. Horacio Repetto (Argentina) Dr. Nelson Orta Sibú (Venezuela); Ex-Secretary General Dr. José Grunberg (Uruguay). President of the VI Congress Dr. María C. Mayado (Uruguay) and the new councillors of IPNA: Drs. Michelle López (Venezuela) and Digna Espinosa (Cuba). The VI ALANEPE Congress was celebrated in Punta del Este, Uruguay, in November 2002, under the presidency of Dr. Cristina Mayado, and paying homage to Prof. Ira Greifer, President and founder of IPNA, and pioneer of International Pediatric Nephrology. During this Congress Dr. Ramón Exeni was re-elected as Secretary General and the Alanepe Council was integrated by Irene Grimoldi (Argentina) as Secretary-Treasurer, as Assistant Secretaries: Nury Caviedes (Venezuela), Simón Ojeda (México) , Gladys Mendoza de Hartmann (Guatemala), Vera Koch (Brazil), Cristina Mayado (Uruguay), Jaime Restrepo (Colombia) , The new IPNA councillors were: Edda Lagomarsino (Chile) and Clotilde García Druck (Brazil). Ex- Secretary General: José Grunberg (Uruguay). The VII ALANEPE Congress was held in San José, Costa Rica, under the presidency of Dr. Gilberth Madrigal. In the frame of the meeting new authorities were elected, as follows: Secretary General: Dr. Nelson Orta Sibú (Venezuela), Secretary-Treasurer: Nury Caviedes (Venezuela). Assistant Secretaries: José Florín (Cuba), Felipe Mota (Mexico), Oswaldo Freire (Ecuador), Ricardo Gastelbondo (Colombia), Felipe Cavagnaro (Chile), Irene Grimoldi (Argentina), In addition to the Members of the Directive Council, the councillors of IPNA, Drs.: Michelle López (Venezuela), Simón Ojeda (Mexico), Clotilde García (Brazil), Edda Lagomarsino (Chile). Two new councillors of IPNA were elected (who will substitute López y García in 2007): Drs. Milagros Bosque (Venezuela) y Melvin Bonilla F (Puerto Rico). During the General Assembly, Buenos Aires, Argentina was approved to hold the VIII ALANEPE Congress, which will take place in November 2008 under the presidency of Dr. Ramón Exeni. |
