The Latin American Pediatric Nephrology Association (ALANEPE) was founded in 1981. It is a scientific organization that groups medical doctors specialized in pediatric nephrology that reside in Latin American countries and associates or honoraries from other countries. Currently it has approximately 500 members or associates. ALANEPE is one of the seven Regional Associations of the world that belong to the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA). The main objectives of this association are: to promote the relationships amongst associates, to group all the societies, branches, chapters, etc. of Pediatric Nephrology within our geographical boundaries, to promote the communication and support media for the acquisition and maintenance of technology as well as the formation of human resources, to promote the teaching, diffusion and progress of knowledge through the organization of courses, participation of members in national and international Pediatric Nephrology, General Nephrology, Pediatrics, Urology congresses, to promote collaborative studies and periodic publications, to promote and to orient the formation of pediatric nephrologists, as well as other health care professionals that develop activities related to the specialty.
